How to connect two MacBooks via FireWire?

Helloooo.
I have a friend who recently got a new MacBook.
As she wants to copy over the files on that MacBook to her new, she borrowed her son's firewire cable.
Now, how does she start the new MacBook so the older one shows up as a external drive?
We think she should boot it up and press P until it has started.
We just want to make sure.
