Take it to an Apple store and let them deal with it.
Rubbing alcohol with q-tips and paper towels on the the body to get rid of dirt. Computer screen cleaner on the LCD (dont clean it when its on). Brasso for buffing out scratches. Brasso is a polisher for metal, but it works great for macbook/ipod scratches. You can get it pretty much anywhere. It takes a couple of buffs, but it does get rid of scratches. Dont use it on the track pad though.
I would ignore the above windows users. They are just cranky about the hours they spent reinstalling windows because of a bad update / virus / missing dll / missing exe / regeristry error / hardware crash / spyware / bloat ware / malware / hacker / bad defrag / drivers / general use.
2 things are needed, window cleaner- am not joking it works on the keys
and ‘Goo off’ "goo be gone’ – used to remove stickers or gum! it will clean the rest of the remaining area. Aver time the white will fade. It’s just something that happens not much you can do about it.
