What’s the life of a new MacBook Pro?

My HP laptop died about a week ago so I went out and bought a new MacBook pro 13 inch. I absolutely love it so far and am wondering how long I can expect it to last because my HP only lasted about 2 years even though I took very good care of it. I don't want to loose this computer so soon because it is so good.

  1. My Macbook 13 has lasted 4 years now. I had Apple care and used it to replace the battery and the power supply. I use it for work and home so it has seen a lot of hours. If it's white, get a skin and one of those covers for the wrist rest and the track pad. They get dirty

  2. It should last 5 years +. I have a regular white macbook and I'm on my 3rd year and it's running fine.

  3. My macs are 4 years old and going strong.

If you had a mac you would see apples here—> ???

  4. Any laptop should last 3-7 years before a hardware component fails.

This is true for ALL laptops. Macbooks do not have special hard drives that are less prone to failure than HP laptops.

Your HP laptop dying after only two years is unusual. Either by just freakish chance it died early. Or you don't know how to take care of it and somehow damaged it (overheating is usually the culprit behind premature hardware failure).

  5. I have a 476 Mac, vintage 1992 and it still works. That's 17 years. I now use a MacBook and put my G4 Quicksilver in the attic and that still works, it's 7 years old.
