Where to buy an Apple Macbook Pro?
I want a 17". I don't know the difference between Glossy or Matte, could someone explain. These laptops sparked my interest when I went into my school's Apple computer lab. I love the Mac instead of the Vista. Oh, and another question, what does the RAM have to do with the performance? Thanks!

The MacBook pros all come with at least 2 gb of ram which is enough for running the MacOS X. You shouldn't have any problems unless you are running a bunch of memory hungry apps at the same time. You can get special deals as a studnet at the Apple education store on line. Usually the computers are a couple hundred less and the throw something else in free. The glossy screen is a bit sharper but does have reflections.
many malls have Apple stores where they will help you with all of your requests
Glossy or Matte is the screen surface. RAM is a huge part of performance. Depending on what your doing 1GB should be plenty for OS X.
Go to your local apple store! They know all this and are crazy helpful. They're also pretty "straight" with you (i.e. not just out to make the sale, very honest about the systems)
I have a Mac Book Pro (the black one) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!
An Apple Store will bee your best bet. Glossy means that the screen will be shiny and may reflect bright lights. Matte means that the screen won't be shiny and will reflect light to a much lesser extent.
RAM is random access memory. This is your computer's workhorse, it stores and processes vital information about the programs you are running. If you don't have enough RAM, your computer will run extremely slow.
A Glossy finish is very shiny and reflects a lot of light like a photograph where as a matte finish doesn't do that… I prefer a matte finish myself because with a glossy finish if you are in a bright room the screen can be like a mirror and make it a pain to see what you are doing on the computer.
RAM is best described as the computers short term memory, it some part of the RAM to use as short term storage to do calculations and helps the processor work faster. So, the more RAM you have, the more efficient the computer can work thus making it run much smoother and quicker.
On a side note, I am a recent Mac converter myself. I have ran windows my whole life until about a month ago when I got my first Mac… I got the 15" MacBook Pro and let me tell ya, it was the best thing I have ever done! I go to the Colorado Film School so we do everything on Macs and it has just made my life so much easier! If you are planning on ever doing any kind of photo or video editing, than a MacBook Pro is the best choice you can possibly make, and the 17" one you are looking at is most definitely top of the line!
